A bicycle can do more than take you from one place to another – it can connect communities.
On the Left Bank of the Dniester/Nistru River, Republic of Moldova, entrepreneur Artur Cebrucean is developing tourism through the first cycling route linking communities on both banks of the river. Through the Peace Dividend Initiative (PDI) Moldova SME Acceleration Programme, supported by the Swiss Cooperation in Moldova, the project established the infrastructure needed to bring the cycling route to life, including touring bicycles, an online route map, and a free bicycle repair station. At the end of the journey, cyclists can unwind at Artur’s riverside recreation area and enjoy a variety of water activities.
By making it easier to explore the region across both banks of the Dniester/Nistru River, the initiative promotes a healthy lifestyle, creates new opportunities for local tourism businesses, and encourages people to discover the region together. In doing so, it strengthens cross-river connections by fostering shared experiences and people-to-people engagement.
Summer is the perfect time to discover one of Moldova’s most scenic cross-river cycling routes.
