What role can entrepreneurship play in building peace?

On June 9 at Villa Barton we organised an event: Peace Dividends in Action, we brought together entrepreneurs, investors, philanthropists, foundation representatives, friends, peacebuilders and partners to explore this question. One of the highlights of the evening was hearing directly from two entrepreneurs supported by the Peace Dividend Initiative (PDI): Camilo Bueno, founder of CaryO in Colombia, and Alexandra Kislov, co-founder of KISLOV Winery in Moldova. Their stories reminded us that peace is not built only through dialogue and diplomacy. It is also strengthened through livelihoods, economic opportunity, local ownership and hope for the future. At PDI, we believe that market forces can be a powerful driver of peace. By connecting entrepreneurs, investors and peacemakers, we help unlock opportunities in some of the world’s most fragile and conflict-affected regions. Through our +P framework, we work to ensure that economic growth contributes not only to prosperity, but also to trust, resilience and peace.

The conversations throughout the evening reinforced the value of bringing together diverse perspectives around a common question: how can we create the conditions for peace to take root and endure?

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to the discussion, and especially to Camilo and Alexandra for sharing their experiences and insights.

We would love to stay connected and continue the conversation.
