On the Left Bank of the Dniester/Nistru River, Republic of Moldova, Daria Belova is developing adaptive clothing designed for people with disabilities and people with specific care needs. Inspired in part by her experience caring for her grandmother, Daria set out to create garments that combine functionality with the look and feel of everyday clothing – helping people feel comfortable, confident, and independent.
Through the Peace Dividend Initiative (PDI) Moldova SME Acceleration Programme, supported by the Swiss Cooperation in Moldova, Daria has expanded her production capacity, developed new adaptive clothing models, and received specialised technical and marketing support to further build her brand.
For a small business operating in a challenging environment, growth is about more than increasing production. It is also about gaining access to new knowledge, networks, and markets. Daria is now working towards reaching customers beyond the Left Bank and connecting her business with Moldova’s wider market.
Her journey shows how entrepreneurship can respond to real social needs while creating new economic opportunities and stronger connections across communities.
